Mutheu Kasanga

Director, Lukenya Schools and Trustee/Deputy Vice Chancellor, the Lukenya University

Ms Mutheu Kasanga is a director at the Lukenya Schools, Lukenya Community Schools, College and a Trustee and Deputy Vice Chancellor at the Lukenya University. She is the immediate past National Chairperson for the Kenya Private Schools Association, which is the umbrella body for private basic education institutions. She is also the immediate past chair of Education Sector Board for the Kenya Private Sector Alliance and served as a member of the Taskforce on Enhancing Access, Relevance, Transition, Equity, and Quality for Effective Curriculum Reforms 2019-2021 and most recently on the 3rd Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms 2022-2023.

Mutheu has served on several selection panels to appoint boards such as the selection panel to appoint the chairman and boards of the Commission for University Education, the National Council for Science and Technology (NACOSTI), Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority, Makueni County Public Service Board amongst others and continues to serve on a number of boards. She has served as a board member at the East Africa Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO), and Kenya Education Management Institute (KEMI), EdSource Africa and most recently on the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) in charge of the Education, ICT and Sports & Arts Sectors.

Mutheu is a trained teacher by profession and is a deeply passionate educator with vast and deep experience in the entire education space in both local and international curricula. She has participated various education fora, conferences and symposia both locally and globally. Through her work and as a member of KEPSA’s Education Sector Board she continues education advocacy with the Ministry of Education.

Mutheu is a wife and a mother of 2 girls. In her free time she is an active Rotarian with the Rotary Club of Athi River, where she is also the club president for the year 2023/24 and writes a blog www.mutheukasanga.co.ke on education matters.
