These awards will be presented to suppliers and/or distributors that supply education establishments (either directly or indirectly) with high-quality, safe products appropriate to every day teaching and learning needs.

  • Primary Resource/Equipment Supplier of the Year
  • Secondary and Higher Education Resource/Equipment Supplier of the Year
  • SEN Resource/Equipment Supplier of the Year
  • Best Free ICT / App product
  • Best Paid for ICT / App Product
  • Best Resource or Equipment – non ICT
  • Best Product to Promote Health and Fitness in the Classroom

How the product or service they offer meets the needs of schools today
How they demonstrate outstanding customer-care and an exceptional standard of service to education
Provide testimonials or case studies from schools and colleges illustrating the impact of the product or service on learning and the work of the teacher in the classroom
Should include relevant marketing material to prove their case
To qualify for ICT category non-hardware resources must contain an interactive ICT element for use by pupils during lessons
To qualify for non-ICT category resources must not contain an ICT element though components such as songs on CD, downloadable worksheets and teachers' guides, audio and video files are acceptable. Evidence should be provided that they are marketed by the supplier as a non-ICT resource, if the supplier sells them as an ICT product they can only be entered for an ICT award

Multinational Company of the Year

This award will be presented to suppliers and/or distributors that supply education establishments (either directly or indirectly) with high-quality, safe products appropriate to every day teaching and learning needs. This global company should sell and distribute world-wide and have more than 250 employees.

How the product or service they offer meets the needs of schools today
How they demonstrate outstanding customer-care and an exceptional standard of service to education
Provide testimonials or case studies from schools and colleges illustrating the impact of the product or service on learning and the work of the teacher in the classroom
Should include relevant marketing material to prove their case

Start Up Company of the Year

This award will be presented to suppliers and/or distributors that supply education establishments (either directly or indirectly) with high-quality, safe products appropriate to every day teaching and learning needs. To be considered for this award the supplier/company should have been trading for less than 2 years.

How the product or service they offer meets the needs of schools today
How they demonstrate outstanding customer-care and an exceptional standard of service to education
Provide testimonials or case studies from schools and colleges illustrating the impact of the product or service on learning and the work of the teacher in the classroom
Should include relevant marketing material to prove their case

SME Company of the Year

This award will be presented to suppliers and/or distributors that supply education establishments (either directly or indirectly) with high-quality, safe products appropriate to every day teaching and learning needs. To be considered for this award the supplier/company should have fewer than 250 employees.

How the product or service they offer meets the needs of schools today
How they demonstrate outstanding customer-care and an exceptional standard of service to education
Provide testimonials or case studies from schools and colleges illustrating the impact of the product or service on learning and the work of the teacher in the classroom
Should include relevant marketing material to prove their case

Innovation Product Awards

This award will be given to a product or service that demonstrates clearly that it is new, original and ahead of current thinking.

To be eligible the product or service must have been launched between December 2015 – March 2017
The product or service must demonstrate innovation at the highest level, with a way of doing something differently or more effectively
There are two categories and two chances to win – Judges' Choice and Visitors' Choice (Which will be voted for by visitors before via the GESS website and Facebook page and during the show), you only need enter once

Awards for Teachers, Schools and Educational Professionals

Best use of ICT / elearning in the Classroom

This award will recognise and reward an ICT or elearning initiative in the classroom that demonstrates an innovative, strategic and far-reaching use of ICT in support of the goals of that institution.

Include evidence of the contribution of the individuals involved, how they gained support within their institutions, overcame challenges and brought about real change with a significant impact
Describe the background to and context of your entry
Outline the form the initiative takes, how it works and why it is innovative and effective
Detail how the individuals involved contributed to the success of the initiative
Explain how you built awareness of what you were doing

Innovation in Education Award

Presented to a member of the teaching profession or an educational professional working in schools or colleges or other educational establishments, nominated by themselves or their peers for outstanding innovation or creativity in teaching.

Illustrate how this person’s imagination and passion have transformed a course/class and inspired students
Explain the nature of your excellence or innovation. Have you launched new initiatives? Set up new courses? What were the challenges?
How it is novel and innovative?
Respect of pupils has been gained - student testimonials will be welcomed
What were the results? Provide evidence of demonstrable progress or success

Ambassador for the Environment

This award seeks to recognise and reward those institutions or individuals that can demonstrate a positive impact either within their school or community of their sustainable initiatives either by increasing environmental awareness or by positively contributing to a more sustainable/environmental approach.

Describe the background to and context of your initiative
Detail the nature of your work. Spell out your objectives and achievements to date
How does your contribution differ from standard practice?
How did you make a change? – describe how you put the initiative in action
If relevant, how does this work fit within your institution’s overall corporate social responsibility strategy?

Community Award for Citizenship

This award will be presented to an educational establishment or individual who can demonstrate real value to the community it/they serve through the most imaginative attempt to aid the wider community socially, culturally or economically.

Describe the background to and context of your initiative
Explain the nature of the work, and the challenges involved
How the establishment has created and sustained partnerships with local businesses
A supportive and inclusive approach to both parents and the wider community
Provide evidence of demonstrable progress or success. Show how the project has made a difference to the target community
Outline how you as an individual or staff/students contributed to the success of the project
Testimonials of those that have been positively affected by your initiatives should be included as supporting evidence

Outstanding Contribution in Education Award

Presented to a member of the teaching profession or an educational professional working in schools or colleges or other educational establishments, nominated by themselves or their peers for outstanding contribution to education above and beyond their day to day job role.

Nominations should include a detailed statement about how this person’s contribution to education has gone the extra mile
Supporting evidence should highlight why this person’s contribution to education had gone above and beyond their day to day job role
Explain why is this person an unsung hero, can include testimonials from colleagues, pupils

Lifetime Achievement Award

This prestigious award will be presented to an individual working in the education sector who's work deserves to be honoured for their contribution to education above and beyond their own academic interests. A shortlist is selected by an independent body of judges, made up of leading educational professionals. They will consider the special nature of this person's contribution to education and why this person's contribution to education is above others.
